Foreword

Under the scope of the Bologna Process, in 2006/2007 FEUP starts to offer a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering. This academic degree will provide students with "Second Cycle" professional competences in the area of chemical engineering and similar. This is assured mainly by the Department of Chemical Engineering and corresponds essentially to a reformulation of its almost centennial "Licenciatura" in Chemical Engineering, assuring new valences and work methods, in total agreement with the evolution of teaching and learning that we observe today in the best European schools.

Academic Degrees

  • The Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering will confer the second cycle degree in the area of Chemical Engineering, corresponding to 5 accumulated years (300 ECTS) of studies;
  • Being drawn on the basis of the Integrated Masters Degree conception, its structure leads, in the terms of the law, to the attribution of a degree of First Cycle at the end of 180 ECTS, assigned as Undergraduate in Sciences of Engineering - Orientation of Chemical Engineering.

The educational profile of the Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering is characterized by:

  • An education profile designated, at an European level, as "mode theoretically oriented";
  • Agreement with the European norms for second cycle degrees and with the recommendations of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering for minimum contents of Masters Degree Courses;
  • An effort to, under an European framework, provide students with the necessary technical knowledge, personal and professional abilities, interpersonal abilities, competences for conception, project, implementation and operation of systems, in such a way that their institutional mobility is assured.
